Modern Farmhouse Patio Home I have had the privilege of collaborating with this client on two previous homes. Although each has been unique, the ultimate goal is creating a space that exudes warmth and welcomes you. The living area, a spacious room, was a canvas for us to craft a sitting area, a dining area, and a kitchen that could each stand independently. This would not be another “cookie cutter” patio home, but a unique space waiting to be brought to life. With the house being newly constructed and no furnishings brought for the central area, we found our inspiration in taupe, navy, teal, and clay fabric for two swivel chairs. This became the touchstone for every other selection, from rugs to lighting, in our design process.

Our design choices were bold and unique. The walls were painted in a warm taupe, while the kitchen cabinets were given a lighter taupe hue.  The built-in wine bar, a striking feature, was finished in a beautiful teal green. The art piece above the wine bar set the tone we were aiming for: a touch of nature with a contemporary twist.

A key part of our design strategy was the mix of painted and stained woods, fabric patterns, and textures. This unique blend was carefully curated to achieve our desire for a one-of-a-kind, welcoming, and warm home where their family loves to gather.
